Successful people talk, think and approach situations, challenges, and problems differently than most people.

The most successful CEOs are reported to read an average of 60 books and attend more than 6 conferences per year – whereas the average worker reads an average of less than one book and makes 319 times less income. People tend to leave out how much more the rich work for their success than the average person. 😉

You need to become aware of the kinds of habits and characteristics you should be developing – and encouraging your colleagues to develop as well. The only way to be successful is to take the same action that successful people take. Duplicate the action and mindsets of successful people, and you will create success for yourself.

Success must be approached from an ethical viewpoint. Success is your duty, obligation, and responsibility.

Four Degrees of Action

“How much action is necessary to create success?”

Most people fail only because they are operating at the wrong degree of action.

  • Do Nothing

      1. No longer taking actions to move yourself forward in order to learn, achieve, or control some area.
      2. People who do nothing in their career, relationships, or whatever they want have probably given up on their dreams and are now willing to accept pretty much whatever comes their way.
      3. People in this group will find themselves spending their time and energy justifying their situations-which requires as much work as the other actions
      4. Form of work
        1. boredom
        2. Feel lack of purpose so avoid most work
        3. When the alarm goes off in the morning they don’t respond at all. This takes a lot of energy to get up in the morning
        4. It takes work to lose a job because of lack of production. It’s work to be overlooked for a promotion and have to wait another year to be considered and then go home and explain it to your spouse. It takes tremendous effort to exist on this planet as an underappreciated and underpaid employee-and even more energy to make sense of it.
        5. The person not taking action has to make excuses for his or her condition; this requires a lot of creativity and effort.
      5. This group amazingly will apply massive action in other areas of interest.
        1. They will spend time on something they enjoy
        2. They will insist to family and friends that they are content and all is right with them which only confuses everyone because it’s obvious that they are not living up to their full potential
        3. watching tv
        4. “hanging out”
        5. “Time Pass”
        6. parties
        7. movies
  • Retreaters retreat

      1. These people run away from action to avoid negative experiences
      2. Fear of success
      3. Made “some” action in the past that wasn’t fruitful and decided not to do it again
      4. They justify their responses and believe it is in their best interest to remain operating at their current level.
      5. Claim to be doing so in order to avoid more rejection and or failures.
      6. They’re working off of fear and come to the conclusion that there’s nothing they can do.
      7. Forms of work
        1. Retreating is an action that requires effort and hard work. Watch any healthy child, and you will see that it is not normal human behaviour to retreat, but rather to advance and conquer. Usually retreating only comes about as a result to being told to do so over and over. So many of us are instructed during childhood
          1. Don’t touch that
          2. be careful
          3. don’t talk to him
          4. get away from that
          5. don’t get hurt
        2. These “retreating” phrases may keep us safe for the time being but we should be encouraged to venture out, experience things, get a little hurt. It makes us better, stronger individuals more capable of taking risks and achieving success.
      8. Examples (notice action is STILL being taken; they’re choosing not to take action)
        1. “nothing you can do”
        2. “The stock market sucks; i’m never investing again”
        3. “Most marriages fail; I’m staying single”
        4. “The acting/music business is too tough; I’ll just be a waiter for the rest of my life”
        5. “The job market is terrible; no one is hiring”
      9. A lot of time goes into justifying WHY they are retreating. They have convinced themselves completely that they’re merely doing what the need to survive.
  • If you’re going to expend effort, why not do so in the direction of success?
  • Take normal levels of action

  • Average by definition is “less than extraordinary”
      1. People who take normal levels of action are probably the most prevalent in our society today.
      2. This is the group that appears on the surface to be taking the “necessary” amounts of action and to be “normal”
      3. This level of action creates the middle class and is actually the most dangerous – because it’s considered acceptable by society. Unfortunately the majority of workforce and in some cases entire countries and cultures.
      4. People in this group spend their lives taking enough action to appear average and create normal lives;marriages, and careers; however, they never do quite enough to create real success.
      5. These people “blend in” rather than stand out.
      6. The goal in this category is “Average” – Average marriage, health, career, finances. As long as average works, they are fine with it. They don’t cause “problems” for others or themselves as long as conditions remain steady and predictable.
      7. Problem
        1. This group will never learn their true potential even they catch a glimpse of it because they’re actually making some action.
        2. the moment market or economic conditions become negatively impacted – and therefore less than normal – these people will suddenly realize that they’re at risk.
        3. Add any change to the conditions in which people take only “normal” actions and all bets are off
        4. If this group isn’t “comfortable” at all times they are more susceptible to uncertainty, stress and other negative emotions because they weren’t in control.
      8. Examples
        1. average student
        2. average marriage
        3. average kids
        4. average finances
        5. average business
        6. average products: “This fairly average product can be found at an average price and delivers mediocre results.”
        7. average body type
        8. average expectations
  • Take massive action

    1. Remove all negativity
    2. Constantly Perfect yourself
    3. Constantly Perfect your skills
    4. Constantly Perfect your quality
    5. Model Successful people
    6. Convert potential power (knowledge) into action
    7. Do things 100+ time
    8. Do things differently
    9. Constantly Optimize and refine skills
    10. Take guidance as an investment and continue contributing
    11. Accept more responsibilities
    12. More responsibilities means more learning
    13. OWN IT
    14. Ask why often
    15. Push yourself to the next level
    16. Write more (Document more) Prove what you know
    17. Don’t TRY: “Intend to succeed”
    18. Learn like you breathe
    19. Identify path forward
    20. No excuses

    24. Focus on the future
    25. Don’t “meander”, do everything with purpose
    26. create and refine your own goals
    27. Grow fat from collecting a large amount of information all the time
    28. Always be looking for life hacks and cool tools.
    29. Change who and what influences you
      1. Asocial media: “Unfollow” Friends. Follow only major influencers in your field, finance or family.
      2. Where you spend your time needs to be more focused on your building yourself and your money.
        1. Filter Conversations with people
        2. Filter what you read: no newspapers, just books
        3. Filter what you see: no stupidity that doesn’t help you or the world grow. Just documentaries, movies, and tv that is helpful and hopeful and educational for your mind, body and soul.

When you are taking massive action, you aren’t thinking in terms of how many hours you work. When you start operating at the fourth degree of action, your mindset will shift and so will your results. You will end up instigating opportunities that you will have to address earlier, later, and in a different way than you would on a “normal” day, so a routine day will become a thing of the past.

The following list is of ways you should act in order to be successful it’s based on what has been discovered about successful people and the way they do things.

  1. Have a “Can Do” attitude

    1. Approach every situation with the outlook that no matter what, it can be done!
    2. Maintain that a solution always exists
    3. Challenge yourself with the most impossible request and figure out how you can answer with a “can do” attitude.
    4. Speak in terms of “Explanations” and “Resolving issues” and consistently communicate challenges with a positive outlook.
    5. Consistently use “DO” phrases
      1. “We can do it”
      2. “Let’s make it happen”
      3. “Let’s work it out”
      4. “Let’s discuss a few options”
      5. “I have an idea”
      6. “I will figure it out”
    6. You must believe and convey to others that a solution does indeed exist – even if you’re going to have to work a little harder to find it.
    7. Incorporate this kind of “can do” outlook into your language, thoughts, actions, and responses to everyone you know.
    8. Imagine if you help everyone develop this kind of attitude by drilling it into them on a daily basis. What could we achieve with our business and our customers?
  2. Believe that “I will figure it out”

    1. This is a statement of what I call the “Double D” – Dedication and Determination. It refers to the person that is always looking to be responsible and solve a problem.
    2. No one values a person who not only doesn’t have the information but doesn’t want to know the information. This does nothing good for your credibility or competence. For those that say “I don’t know” or “I need helpso often, do you really want to brag about your inability or think your employer or team values honesty so much that they want to you to admit they are wasting their time with you?
    3. Handing off your task to someone else gets it done, no doubt, but you’re working yourself out of a job and helping that guy gain valuable experience.
    4. An alternative response to “I don’t know” is “Great question. Let me check into that and figure it out.” You are still being honest, but you’re inciting a solution instead of implying your lack of skill or ability.
  3. Focus on opportunity

    1. Successful people see all situations – even problems and complaints – as opportunities.
    2. Where others see difficulty, successful individuals know that problems solved equal new products, services, customers – and probably financial success. Remember: success means overcoming a challenge, not backing down and giving up.
    3. You can’t possibly succeed at anything without some kind of difficulty. Handle it adequately and you’ll be rewarded. The bigger the problem, the bigger the opportunity. The only person who stands out is the opportunity-focused individual who sees those problems as openings for success. Use this ability to dominate in the marketplace as well as your career.
    4. This is a way of life. If you can learn to see most obstacles as prospects and opportunity instead of problems, you’ll continually come out on top.
  4. Love Challenges

    1. The majority of people use challenges as a reason to back down and not push themselves to the next level. – This is called laziness.
    2. Highly successful individuals are compelled and invigorated by challenges.
    3. If you get overwhelmed easily it means you aren’t practiced at taking on enough challenges, and so you don’t know how to handle them.
    4. Challenges are the experiences that sharpen successful people’s abilities. To achieve your goals, you have to get to a place where every challenge becomes fuel for you.
    5. Get to a point where you approach new challenges with gusto and excitement. This will start to stimulate you to continue accepting more challenges.
  5. Seek to solve problems

    1. Become a solutions provider. Live everyday as if your very being is jeopardized if you don’t solve a problem.
    2. The bigger the problem – and the more people who benefit from the solution – the more powerful your success will be.
    3. Seek problems to solve-for your company, co-workers, customers, government- whatever they may be and wherever they might exist.
    4. The world is filled with people have-and who unfortunately, cause-problems. One of the fastest and best ways to separate yourself from the masses is to establish yourself as someone who makes situations better, not worse.

I am a Student of Life currently living in India with my wife and son. I am interested in philosophy, discussions of life and how to make it better as we learn, individually, how to lead ourselves. We're waking up, and our mindset is changing. We need to increase our perspectives in order to become more tolerant and eventually more loving toward all life. The skeptics that would bawk at ideas of communities of people living in peace, choosing to "work" for themselves as a means for a "living" instead of profit and consumerism, simply means they aren't at the same level of understanding and aren't surrounded by an environment or others that would support those ideals. My proposal is for more people to leave their comfortable lives and conveniences and increase their time in nature. Reconnect with that which we are. My goal is in "being" not in "having"
